Temporary Flood and Cyclone Reconstruction Levy
The Temporary Flood and Cyclone Reconstruction Levy (Flood Levy) applies to an individual’s taxable
income from 1 July 2011 until 30 June 2012.
It was designed to assist affected communities to recover from the recent natural disasters by
providing additional funding for rebuilding essential infrastructure such as roads and schools.
The Flood Levy will apply to employees who earn over $50,000 in the 2011-2012 Financial Year.
Some employees will be exempt from the Flood Levy if they have been affected by a natural
disaster.
